A Boys Day!

Today was perfect. We all just stayed home ... all day! We tidied up, the boys played, Thomas slept. I cooked breakfast and baked muffins. Perfect.

It was also a real boys day .... camping, lego and football. The raiders jumpsuit didn't stay on long ;) It was a gift for Lachlan and I have a photo with Lachlan and Lucas in it .... so of course I had to take one of Thomas!

I ended the evening giving Lachlan his new bible. He loves it and kept asking us for verses to look up and read. Was precious to see!

Week 9

Dear Thomas,

Happy 2month birthday!

I am mindful that time is ticking away, as always! Each day I tell myself ... stop, go slower. You sleeps so much and when you're awake I'm often moving you from the car to the pram and back again. Today I was down the other end of the house for quite a while, when I came up to our room you were crying. I think you had been crying for a while. I picked you up and you kept sobbing for a while. After a good cuddle I put you in your high chair while I started to clean the kitchen ... you looked up at me and dropped your lip and started crying again! You are just the sweetest!!

Your eyes are looking darker and you hair is growing back the same dark colour.

Love you!
Mummy

Week 8

Dear Sweet Thomas,

Thank you for being so helpful this week! It was a busy one, and you were so flexible, just going from here to there feeding, sleeping, smiling and maybe even chuckling a little!!
You had your immunizations this week. It is was such a sad moment when you were lying in my arms happy as always, and that needle went into your thigh ..... a look of shock, pain, then you turned bright bright red and cried! Even the nurse commented how red you went.
So, you are growing and I'm going through clothes, giving away some and putting others away in a 'newborn baby boy' bag .... will there be another little boy to wear them?!

Next week I'll take your photo with your teddy.

Lots of love! Mummy

Week 7

Dear Thomas,

Really?! I missed a week!
Well, here are some things that are new from these past two weeks:

- We went on a day trip to Merimbula and Magic Mountain. We all had a fantastic time!
- You have had a few nights of 7, 8, and 9 hour sleeps.
- You are smiling and talking a lot more now.
- You spend a bit more time awake now, around an hour or a bit more.
- You are just starting to put your hand out towards things.
- School is back, and with Lachlan at school Lucas plays quietly, you sleep and I feel like I can get a bit more done. I feel like you have just fit right in without much change at all. Someone mentioned to me the other day that they wouldn't have left the house before 6 week after having baby. I have definitely been more busy and out and about. Maybe I should have taken more time to recover, who knows! You have been so easy. Thank you Thomas for helping me do what I have needed to do these past few weeks.

Have I told you I love you?!

Letter to Thomas - Week 5

So, I really need to find a journal to write in otherwise it will take me forever to rewrite all these posts! One thing I've noticed lately is how one outing takes that bit longer now. Ill give myself a little grace and believe that it will get easier :)

Dear Thomas,

During this past week I've noticed quite a few changes. You are becoming more and more interactive, smiley in the mornings, watching me walk around as you sit in your highchair, letting your brothers crowd around you arguing about who is going to hold your hand. You have the little baby rash that is usual at around 6 weeks. You have really grown too, making your face look a little different. You now enjoy being in the baby sling and are often asleep within about 10 minutes. And maybe the biggest change is that I gave you a dummy! I was wondering if you would be fine without one, as you don't need it when you sleep. My problem was when we were out you still would just want to constantly feed, which made it all a bit difficult. You pushed it around a little in your mouth, then sucked it in and loved it! I was able to visit with people for two hours and you just drifted in and out of sleep sucking your dummy.
You're still sleeping great, last night I managed to get 6 hours straight!
Your brothers are both great helpers. They love you so much. Both have had a go at changing your nappies. Lachlan held you while I set up at church last night.

We all love you little one.

Thursday again! At least these little letters to Thomas keep me blogging :) I might just get into the habit of regular posts again.

This last week was difficult. My cousin passed away and I went to his funeral. Strange how life just keeps going on in so many ways, yet it stops completely in others. I can't stop thinking, feeling for my aunty. Perhaps its hearing her voice call out for her baby boy in my mind as I go on in my day to day life with my precious three baby boys. And so I am reminded once again to take each moment and treasure it. Time goes by all too fast!

Week 4 - Letter to Thomas. 16th January

Dearest Thomas,

I took you for your 4 week check up today. All is good. You have put on 1kg already!! 5.3kg. We have had a heat wave this week, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees. I've been trying to keep you nice and cool and we have been staying inside as much as possible. You are focusing much more on faces these days, I've been trying to catch some more smiles but haven't seen many more. Lucas thinks you have smiled at him three times and Lachlan says he has had four smiles!
It was also a week of sadness and celebrations. We attended a family funeral on Monday, my cousin Brett. It was terribly sad. Yesterday we celebrated your poppy's 65th birthday, and Audrey's 6th birthday. Tonight our family had cake at poppy and grans house. You slept for most of it, but then had some lovely cuddles with poppy. He likes to cuddle little babies - before they become too restless as they get older :) All the cousins are growing up and play nicely most of the time. You and Maggie will be up and running around in no time I'm sure.
Sleep wise, you are still going well! Slightly unsettled in this heat but generally you have a good 4-5hour sleep first at night, then wake around every 2 hours after that. I really should go to bed early at night, but still find myself awake until around 11:30. I think its catching up on me.
Speaking of which, the time just went to 12:01 ..... you'll be up soon so I better get to bed.

Love you always,
Mummy
