Ok, I want to learn how to crochet.....I did try a little last year, but I think what I was trying to do was way to hard and then I just decided not to do it.
I just found a fantastic online class. So, in 2012 I will learn how to crochet. There. I said it. I'm now accountable to ......... my blog.

How Can It Be?
My beautiful little baby boy.......

.......has grown up so much that he excitedly told me tonight that there is only 2 more sleeps until he goes to school!!!!
This week I have gone from feeling nervous to excited to a bit teary.
Tonight I went in to Lachlan (who wasn't going to sleep in a hurry) and laid down next to him. He kissed my forehead three times and told me he loved me very, very much. Then he laughed and told me about the time Olivia said she loved her mummy so much that she wanted to marry her :) Then he closed his eyes and went to sleep. Its those times that the role seems to reverse and he is the one who comforts me and makes me feel secure and loved.
I know Lachlan will love school. I know that he will be polite and share and make friends (most of the time). So why do I feel this way. I am happy he is growing and do look forward to it, but these past few days I want to hold on to him right now and enjoy his busyness, his energy, his love of lego and cars and friends to play with, the way he loves to cook with me, and bugs me to make slime or play dough at the most inconvenient times.
Tomorrow I will write his name on all his things, pack his bag with him and get his clothes out ready. I'll be excited with him and talk about all the wonderful things he will do. But now I just want to hold on to my little constant companion and feel a little bit sad that he won't be that.

2012! The Year of Reading
I just came back into my blog to find this post that was written and - not published - around New Years - wow, already a month ago! It was finished but I wanted to add photos, and never got around to it! I listened to Sis Melani Shocks message from BOTT12 this morning, and that message was such a confirmation of my thoughts, desires, anguishes.......I read her posts over the last couple of years about 'Eat This Book' and really enjoyed it. Now she has a bible study out about it all. I guess she will bring them when she comes to Australia!!!!!
So, I never do new years resolutions. I think about it, but never formally write it down and commit to it. This is because I know that I will do what I will do and I won't do what I won't do! Do you get that? I know that if I make up my mind to do something it generally gets done.
Don't get me wrong, I know it is great to have goals and really I plan, plan, plan. I write lists. I even write lists of my lists!
This year will be a bit different for us. We are beginning the year in a new home. Lachlan is starting school. I will do some more regular relief teaching. God is moving us in new directions. I am excited, a little nervous, but ready.
Of course a lot of bloggers have been blogging about this new year and a lot have their new year resolutions. I like Ali Edwards 'Word' for the year. Joy at Grace Full Mama wrote about some things she would like to do. It sounds nice, perhaps idealistic, but something to strive for!
I had the thought of taking photos of how/when my life might reflect these things. I will see how I go with that :)
Here is Joy's list:
Cultivate and Reflect Joy
Create a life-giving home
Be Here and Now
Fill My Soul With Truth, Beauty and Goodness
Live In Grace
Make Home A Sanctuary
Rest, Enjoy, Quiet
Create A Haven
Pursue Simplicity
Savour The Moments Of My Life
Embrace Serving
Worship
Enjoy Stillness
Find the Glorious In The Mundane
Quite a list, but we'll see what happens with it. One thing I know for sure is I want to get into the Word of God more and more and more. I have always had my regular reading time, but right now I am inspired to study it more and reflect on it more and live it more. I was bought up with a deep respect of the bible. This has obviously stayed with me......I don't even like to put another book on top of my bible on my bedside table.
When I was little, my dad built himself a 'study shed' out the back of our home. It was a very comfortable place to be - physically and emotionally. I used to go and sit with him regularly. He had a big soft, squeaky chair he would sit on while he read and wrote. And I would sit under the desk drawing or reading or just playing. These memories are so clear in my mind I can even smell the dampness after it had been raining :)
So, in whatever form it may be I hope I can share any inspiration I get while focussing on this 'non-new-years-resolution'!!!

Well, we finally have the internet at home!!! It's like the olden days though.....we can't be on the internet and use the phone at the same time. Hopefully we can fix that soon :)
Today I read this.....
Sometimes it is better to be kind than to be right. We do not need an intelligent mind that speaks, but a patient heart that listens.
......it was very timely.
