I just had a quick look back at my first post - I created this blog on my 31st birthday. A couple of days ago I turned 35. Here is what I wrote in 2008....
I have thought about starting my own blog for a couple of weeks now. Today is my 31st birthday, so it felt like the perfect day to start something.
So, why do I want to blog? Well, I have a blog for my baby and that is to keep family and friends up to date with things, as well as keeping some sort of journal about his milestones and what is happening. My husband has a blog, and that one is really just him sharing some thoughts, sermon ideas. Other blogs I read share craft ideas, thoughts and feelings.
This blog....well, I don't even think I will share it with anyone. I want to keep a bit of a journal about the good things in life - not just all the wonderful, but the things that don't seem too wonderful, but are 'meant for good' too.
I am hopeless at keeping written journals. I have tried, and only seem to keep them for a few weeks. Maybe this blog will be different, maybe it will be the same. We'll see.
It's nice to read that. This place has been where I have recorded some of the good things in my life - the wonderful and not so wonderful. I like blogging. Probably because although there are times when I don't blog, it is easy to just pick up where I left it. I would like to blog more regularly, but the reality is that I really am hopeless at keeping written journals!
Well, let's catch up on a few things.....
We moved into our new house! I love it here. It already feels like home. I do miss our old neighbourhood though. I met our old neighbours the other day and had a good chat. I told Jonathan how much I now regret not having more to do with them. I don't like regrets.
We have so much more space in our new home - of course which is the whole reason we moved! The street is so quiet! I hardly hear a car all day. And probably the most amazing thing about moving into this house - the second night we stayed here, Lucas slept all night - and hasn't stopped!! This is amazing because he was a terrible sleeper before.
And my beautiful boy started preschool! I did blog about this the night before he started, but don't think I've mentioned anything else since. Lachlan loves it! He loves his teachers, and I am really happy with everything. Lachlan talks about his new friends, the games he plays, the craft he does, the songs they sing.
He waited so long to be the bumblebee of the day, and finally his turn came. He got to ring the bell, and leaad the line.
I put my hand up for the Preschool Parents Association. I'm only the assistant secretary, so don't actually do anything ;) I am amazed though about how little funding preschool receive. After teaching Kindergarten and having the opportunity to order supplies, teaching manipulatives and other resources, it surprises me how much preschools rely on fundraising!
And now I am 35. Mid-thirties :) I found my first grey hair a few weeks ago! I still feel 24.......
I had a lovely day. We had our usual swimming lessons and piano teaching, but the rest of the day was packed with lovely surprises.
Lachlan decorated our dining room to make it the 'party room' for the day. Balloons, streamers, and pictures hung around the walls.
I had lunch (and my first birthday cake for the day) with Ruth and the girls.....
Then coffe and my second birthday cake with Michelle .....
And finally, mum and dad bought dinner over and my third cake for the day!!!
I left the boys with dad while mum and I went to the Target midnight madness sale! Apart from 84 nappies for $10, there was not much there :)
Thank you everyone for such a lovely day!
This Easter has been the first one I have spent home. I have always been at youth camp, but decided this year to stay home with the boys. They haven't been well, so it was for the best. We have had a few quiet days, and I have managed to organise my sewing things, scrapbooking supplies and finish off some work for church.
Lachlan's school sent home a note asking us to write about how we celebrate Easter. Apart from going to church and reading/talking about Jesus death and ressurection, we actually don't have any other family traditions at Easter. I realised we do need to create some! I'm not sure what though. Maybe a special lunch on Sunday. Some special craft. I don't know. We don't do the easter bunny & eggs, and this is the first year Lachlan has even heard about the easter bunny! Although I don't believe Lachlan thinks he misses out on anything, I do want to make the time special for my children some way.
Today we enjoyed a picnic outside. It was simple, and nice. Toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches and banana smoothies.
So now I feel a bit more up to date!
